Google’s Matt Cutts | How to Get Better Visibility on Google

Interview with Matt Cutt’s. Think about what users will search for to find your page, make sure those words are on your page. Title tags are very important for SEO. Make sure you use the “description” meta tags, it’s often displayed as text next to your link in the search results, it should be engaging and make people want to click thru. One of the best ways to “find links” is to start a blog – talk about your business and your personal thoughts as well. People will link to you naturally if you have good ideas to write about and/or interesting thoughts to share. You don’t have to pay Google to be found in the search results, buying ads doesn’t help either. Google should be able to find your site within days, the best way to be found by google is to get links to your site. Submitting a site map also helps.

Gareth Davis covers “title tags”. A title tag is a summary of the webpage that is passed to the search engine and used as a heading in the browser, and a hyperlink in the search results.

Bad examples of title tags:

1.) A long list of keywords isn’t something a person would click on in the search engines.
2.) “Untitled Document” tells the search engine nothing about the page.
3.) YourDomain.com is bad because it doesn’t offer any info on what your site is about.

Good examples of title tags:

1.) Good title should be keyword rich, concise, and sensible in it’s description
2.) Keep it to about 63 characters and try to all of them.
3.) Write a unique title for every page on your site.
